I'm a big fan of Mother Clucker's. Great chicken and very affordable.
The chicken is broasted, not fried, but the skin is still crispy and the meat is juicy as hell. Its delicious.
The mac'n'cheese is very creamy and the cole slaw is mayo based and excellent, if not quite reaching KFC/Popeye's levels of addictiveness. Great biscuits, too.
Service is very friendly and the dining room is bare bones, but comfortable. Music is not bad, it was alt-80's when I dined there last. -

Ever searching for a true five star experience we set out on a Saturday afternoon from Chicago's lakefront, more to escape the throngs of visiting Lollapalooza fans in our front yard, yet with the eager anticipation of finally finding a restaurant that matched the dazzle and hype bestowed by their customers known as the"regulars."
At last the guru of the concrete jungle announced, "you have arrived at your destination," and OMG free off street parking. With guarded expectations now bolstered by such a surprise we find the unassuming entrance and find ourselves inside a small triangular dinning area that opens up to a counter and kitchen where several voices welcomed strangers as though they were expecting lifelong family friends. With the hobble and cane of a life well lived, we approached the counter to order and caught the deft eye of the young man behind the counter, who then offered to take our order table side. We orders our meal and relaxed to watch as others were greeted with the same familial enthusiasm.
Our appetizer and meal left us with no room for the offered sweet punctuation to an experience reminiscent of a southern grandmother's Sunday table. We offer to you the hope that you too experience the pleasure a great meal with the joy of finding true hospitality born of hard work and become what we will soon be, a regular -

Yum! I've seen this restaurant all throughout high school and giggled at the clever name every time I've passed it by. One day when deciding on where to take myself to dinner, I look at my bookmarks where I see a spot way on the bottom of my list: Mother Cluckers.
Their appeal is the special way of making their chicken, which isn't baking it, roasting it, nor frying it-...no it's BROASTED! Which, I guess is like it being fried, but with a lot less oil making it a more healthier alternative.
I order a two dark piece meal that came with two sides and a order of hush puppies. They had many options for sides, but ultimately I went with their mac n cheese, and fries, both which were very delicious. Some of the best mac and cheese out there honestly. The hush puppies too were amazing. I've never had them before but they were such a treat.
The chicken, of course, was nothing short of amazing. Not too crunchy, but still so very juicy. A wonderful meal overall, and all of this was less than $10! Then there's their hospitality which was top notch. Everybody greeted you with a smile that went on for miles, it was a very warm feeling. I can't wait to return, maybe with some friends this time to share the experience. -

My husband, daughter, and I have been to Mother Cluckers Kitchen many times and have never been disappointed. Although I have had their chicken (and waffles), sampled off of my husband's po-boy sandwiches, ribs, etc., my most favorite items on the menu are their shrimp tacos and fish tacos. I alternate between the two every time I go there for dinner. The spicy BBQ on the table is my favorite, but the sweet one is also very good!
Everyone there is great. Customer service is great-they're always pleasant, and you can rely on someone to check on you at least once throughout your meal, which is great since they are an "order at the counter" and aren't a "sit down and have your order taken type of place." Tim is always there and is always happy-go-lucky, always says "hi", and always polite. He even offered to let me have some mint from the outdoor raised bed!
In my opinion, Mother Cluckers is extremely underrated. The food is so good and the customer service is excellent. I would give them 6 stars if possible! -

Good Texas-style ribs, and southern food.
Texan ribs: 4 (not only not BBQ sauce-heavy, but actually, without BBQ sauce altogether. Only a nice spiced rub that coats the fall-off-the-bone meat.
Mac and Cheese- 3.5
Collared greens- 3.5 (w/ plenty of lemon)
Jalapeño-spiced biscuit: 4
8-piece broasted chicken meal: 3.5
Service was very attentive and welcoming!
**I am not partial to southern meals, but found myself enjoying the food here.
